Congratulations to Olympia Koziatek (MSc Geography) and Anthony Lee (BA Geography and Environment Co-op Program student) are the winners of the 2016 SFU Esri Canada GIS Scholarship Award. The scholarship is part of the SFU Esri Canada Centre of Excellence (ECCE) in GIS program and recognizes outstanding design and implementation of an original project that advance the GIScience discipline and its applications.

Olympia's work developed spatial simulation modeling methods for 3D urban building developments in Surrey. Anthony's work used spatial methods to examine statistical associations between thefts and homeless shelters in Vancouver.

The award comprises a monetary component and other GIS professional development and learning resources.

The SFU Esri Canada Centre of Excellence (SFU ECCE) in GIS was established in 2014 in recognition of the long-standing quality of GIS research in the Department of Geography, Faculty of Environment and SFU. It represents an important network collaboration between industrial partner Esri Canada and SFU.

Congratulations Olympia and Anthony!
