Using Eventbrite
Eventbrite is a key tool used by SFU faculty and department communicators for event management and promotion. For workshops, lectures, or public events - use this tool to create event listings, manage registrations, and track attendance.
Note: You must manually copy your events to LiveWhale to add them to the . Events hosted through Eventbrite will not be automatically added.
Privacy and Collection Notice
Eventbrite PIA
A Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) was updated by C&M in 2025. To adhere to the PIA guidelines, the following protocols must be observed when organizing events, managing user accounts, and integrating with other SFU systems.
1. PIA does not encompass events organized by students; therefore,
- Do not create any student-run/led events.
- Do not create any organizer profiles for student clubs.
2. Data collection for events
- Only essential information should be collected for an event.
- If gender is collected, it must be either optional or include 鈥淧refer not to answer鈥 as an option.
- A Collection Notice and/or consent must be provided with each SFU event. All events should be created from a template that includes the notice, attached to each sub-account. A copy of the Collection Notice from the SFU Privacy Office is available below.
3. User accounts
- Only individuals with appropriate roles, an @sfu.ca email address, and who are communicators or SFU event organizers should be added to Eventbrite Enterprise.
- Students are not allowed as event organizers or users in Eventbrite Enterprise.
- Sub-account admins should remove users who are no longer employed by SFU.
4. App integration
- App integration falls under the PIA. Adding an app integration will necessitate a PIA update for Eventbrite, and the app must have a completed PIA prior to integration. For further information, contact digital@sfu.ca.
5. Collection Notice
The following Collection Notice must be included in all SFU-run events:
Your use of Eventbrite at A片资源吧 is voluntary. Please be advised that the personal information you disclose to Eventbrite is stored on servers located in the United States. Storage of your personal information outside Canada means the information resides in a foreign jurisdiction and will be subject to that jurisdiction鈥檚 laws. The data is stored indefinitely and privacy protection afforded by Canada鈥檚 privacy laws will not apply. You may wish to review the Eventbrite privacy policy before using the service. If you choose to use this service, your personal information will be used to register you in an event, send you information related to the event in which you have registered, manage your attendance at an event (i.e. print name tags or guest lists), process payment for attendance at a paid event, manage security at an event, and send you promotional materials about future SFU events. The information you provide to SFU via Eventbrite is collected under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (R.S.B.C. 1996, c165). By choosing to use this service you consent to the collection of your personal information in this manner and for the purposes described above and to its storage outside Canada. If you have any questions about the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information please contact [name, phone number and address of an appropriate contact personal in the program area]. If you do not wish to use this service, you may register for the event via phone by calling the contact information above.

The above Collection Notice is provided by SFU Privacy Office. Should any changes be necessary, contact digital@sfu.ca. To ensure that the correct name and contact information are included, please follow the steps outlined below.
- Navigate to 鈥淓vents鈥 in the left-hand menu and select your event.
- Go to 鈥淥rder Form鈥 located under 鈥淥rder Options鈥 of the event.
- Scroll to the bottom of 鈥淵our questions鈥 section, select 鈥淓dit鈥 from the Collection Notice dropdown menu to update the name and contact information as required.
