Professional Development Funding Program

The Office of Student Experience (OSE) provides funding support for Undergraduate Business students to participate in supplementary professional development activities. This opportunity encourages students to pursue further opportunities to learn new skills, meet and connect with the business community, and gain exposure to new innovative ideas.

Professional development activities include but are not limited to: Conferences, workshops, networking events, training seminars, and webinars. Please refer to the guidelines document to see if the opportunity you are interested in qualifies for support.

Student eligibility

  • Must be a current SFU undergraduate student majoring or minoring in Business
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 9 units of standard graded courses at SFU in the term of application or engaging in a full-time co-op placement
  • Be in good academic standing at the time of application

Application periods

  • Summer Semester: May – August
  • Fall Semester: September – December
  • Spring Semester: January – March 1st (Shortened period for administrative purposes)

Application process

  • Applications will run each term.
  • Students must submit a full application via the Student Engagement Portal
    • Students are expected to articulate what the activity is and how it fits into the overall criteria for this funding.
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and will remain open until funding runs out for that term
  • Decisions are communicated to applicants
  • Participants must provide relevant information to verify participation
