PUB 606 Media Project

This intensive, project-based course guides students through the development of a new digital media platform using the lean startup methodology.

Over the course of the sprint, student teams will engage in iterative product development, combining market research, prototyping, and audience testing to build viable media ventures from the ground up.Through a series of staged launches—including planning documents, prototypes, and formal pitch sessions—students will refine their ideas in response to faculty and industry expert feedback. Teams will explore core elements of media entrepreneurship, including audience targeting, platform strategy, branding and voice, value propositions, revenue models, and long-term sustainability.

The course culminates in a formal final pitch to a panel of media professionals, where students will present their ventures and receive real-time critique. By the end of the course, students will have developed the skills to conceptualize, test, and present a launch-ready media product, prepared for the dynamic realities of today’s media landscape.
