Co-op 100: Orientation Course
We鈥檝e developed a self-paced Co-op Orientation course in Canvas to help you navigate SFU鈥檚 Co-operative Education program. This online course introduces you to the key elements of co-op鈥攊ncluding important policies, procedures, and what to expect in each stage of the program: Prep, Seeking, and Practicum terms. It will also help you understand your role as a co-op student, and guide you in planning your next steps toward a successful co-op experience.
Co-op 101: Prep Course
The Co-op Prep Course is an online Canvas course designed to prepare you for success in the co-op program. It includes key assignments, mandatory workshops, and one-on-one coaching appointments. By completing the course, you鈥檒l be able to articulate your personal brand, create strong application documents, build a professional online presence, and understand your rights and responsibilities in the workplace鈥攁ll essential steps before entering the Seeking phase.
Meet and Greet
This 30-minute session is your first introduction to the Prep Course. You鈥檒l meet your Co-op Career Advisor, receive an overview of the course, learn about upcoming opportunities, and get helpful tips to support your success in the program.
Workshops
You must complete the Resume, Cover Letter, and Interview workshops before entering the job search phase. These interactive sessions offer practical strategies, employer insights, and tips to strengthen your application materials. Multiple dates and times are available鈥攔egister through myExperience.
Assignments
Students are required to complete assignments such as their resume, cover letter, and the mandatory 鈥淏ecoming an Employee鈥� module. Note: International students must also submit their Co-op Work Permit (details provided after acceptance into the program).
One on One Coaching
All students must meet with their Co-op Career Advisor during the Prep stage. These personalized coaching appointments offer support with resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, and guidance tailored to your goals.
