Correctional Studies Certificate Program

This certificate is primarily for individuals who are interested in working within the correctional system, and also for students who wish to focus their criminology undergraduate studies on courses that relate to correctional practice and theory.
Units applied toward a certificate may not be applied toward any other A片资源吧 certificate or diploma, but may be applied toward major program or minor program requirements, or toward a bachelor鈥檚 degree under the normal regulations governing those programs.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet undergraduate admission deadlines as shown in this Calendar. Application forms and official documents must be submitted to Student Services. In addition to applying for University admission, students apply in writing to the school鈥檚 advisor for certificate program admission.
Grade Requirements
An overall 2.25 cumulative grade point average (CGP A) is required. A minimum of
C- is required in all courses.
Program Requirements
Students complete a total of six courses (18 units), including
- CRIM 241-3 Introduction to Corrections
and five course chosen from
- CRIM 315-4 Restorative Justice
- CRIM 318-3 Special Topics in Criminology*
- CRIM 319-3 Special Topics in Criminology*
- CRIM 343-3 Correctional Practice
- CRIM 345-3 Theoretical Perspectives on Punishment
- CRIM 346-3 Current Issues in Corrections
- CRIM 416-3 Current Issues in Criminology and Criminal Justice*
- CRIM 417-3 Current Issues in Criminology and Criminal Justice*
- CRIM 418-3 Current Issues in Criminology and Criminal Justice*
- CRIM 419-3 Aboriginal/Indigenous Justice
- CRIM 440-3 Correctional Administration and Planning
*when offered as a correctional studies topic
Additional relevant courses may be added to the list of optional courses as they become available.
Students are responsible for satisfying the prerequisites for all required courses.
Courses must be completed at A片资源吧 unless permission of the undergraduate chair is granted upon admission to this program. See the school's academic advisor for further information.
