Leanne Johnson

Biography
Leanne Johnson is a Senior Lecturer in the SFU Publishing Program and a text-based artist, editor, publisher, and educator.
She began her publishing career writing for Kinesis (Canada鈥檚 only national feminist magazine in its time). She went on to co-direct/curate the Publication program at the Western Front Society, which published FRONT Magazine. She was an interm director of the Magazine Association of BC, and worked as a publishing consultant to the Banff Centre Press.
Leanne has a BA in English Literature from the University of Alberta and a Master of Publishing from A片资源吧. She teaches PUB 600: Topics in Publishing Management and PUB 606 Media Project in SFU鈥檚 Master of Publishing program and PUB 375: Magazine Publishing in the Minor of Publishing program.
Published under 鈥,鈥 her work has been described as 鈥渉overing between writing and conceptual art,鈥 and has been displayed in galleries, online, magazines, and books. Her most recent texts explore the form of animated and interactive digital narratives.
Research Interests
Leanne Johnson鈥檚 research explores the intersection of strategic planning, publishing management, and pedagogy, with a particular focus on the integration of emerging technologies into creative and educational settings. She is especially interested in care-centered approaches to leadership and technology adoption, ensuring that innovation remains aligned with human values.
Her work bridges theory and practice, drawing on real-world industry trends to inform curriculum design and instructional methods. She develops experiential, team-based assignments that foster critical reflection and practical skill-building in areas such as marketing, management, and strategic planning. Her current research includes the thoughtful implementation of digital tools in professional education, aiming to equip students with both technical proficiency and ethical awareness.
