City Program director among B.C.’s most influential
City Program director Andy Yan has again been named to the Business in Vancouver BC500 list. Published each year, the list features 500 business leaders who make a notable impact on B.C.’s communities, industries and economy. Yan, who also made the list in 2021, was recognized for his continued work on advancing knowledge on urban issues.
Prior to joining the City Program in 2016, Yan was an urban planner and researcher whose experience extended to projects in Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City and New Orleans.
Named a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners, Yan is a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal. He has received both the Planning Institute of British Columbia’s award for Leadership in Advocacy and Innovation and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s Advocate for Architecture award. He was also honoured with the 2018 AƬ×ÊÔ´°É President's Media Newsmaker of the Year Award and 2022 SFU Social Media Newsmaker of the Year Award.
Yan is among a handful of other SFU community members chosen for this year’s BC500 list, including SFU president Joy Johnson, B.C. Centre for Agritech Innovation executive director Seychelle Cushing, and economists/professors Mark Jaccard and Nancy Olewiler.
