SFU Board of Governors welcomes new and returning Order-in-Council members
The Board is excited to welcome four new Order-in-Council members as appointed by the Government of British Columbia. These new members come from a diversity of career and life experiences and we are grateful to have their unique expertise on the Board as we continue to navigate a challenging time for the post-secondary sector in Canada.
Please join me in welcoming:
- Linda Li, an experienced managing broker, community leader, and public servant based in Burnaby, British Columbia. Since 2004, she has worked as a Managing Broker and Real Estate Agent with Selmak Realty Ltd. and Metrohomes Realty Ltd., leading operations across Richmond and Metro Vancouver and implementing inclusive service practices for multilingual and multicultural clients. She is the President of the Richmond Chinese Community Society and a Board Director of the Chinese Federation of Commerce of Canada, and passionate about shaping initiatives that promote inclusion, healthcare equity, and educational progress throughout her community.
- Monique Pongracic-Speier, KC, a partner at Ethos Law Group LLP. She was appointed Queen鈥檚 Counsel (now King鈥檚 Counsel) in 2017 and has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada in 2024 and 2025 for her work in the areas of Aboriginal Law/ Indigenous Practice and Administrative and Public Law and received the Harry Rankin, QC Pro Bono Award from the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch in 2024. She is also an SFU alumnus.
- Raman Randhawa, a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with 20 plus years of financial and leadership experience in the mining industry. Currently the Chief Financial Officer at Capstone Mining, Raman has been pivotal in the growth of the company and is responsible for oversight of financial reporting, financial planning, tax, information technology, internal audit, cybersecurity and investor relations. He is also an SFU alumnus.
- Raphael Tachie, a partner in Dentons' Trusts, Estates, and Wealth Preservation group. He is an advocate for diversity and inclusion, the immediate past president of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and an SFU alumnus, having served on the SFU Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2011-2023.
We are also delighted that current Order-in-Council member Neelam Sahota has been reappointed to a second term on SFU鈥檚 Board. Currently the Chief Executive Officer of DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society, Neelam contributed greatly to the Board as Chair of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Executive Committee. She is truly passionate about SFU and about creating a transformative, inclusive experience A片资源吧 students, and we are grateful that she is continuing to volunteer her time for another term.
